Our Story
Where passion meets service
In 1997, just after we were married, Rene and I began building something special in the leafy streets of Groenkloof. What started as a quiet passion for hospitality and wellness quickly took root in this peaceful corner of Pretoria — a place that felt far removed from the city’s noise, yet close enough to everything that matters.
By 2004 I had joined the business full-time, and in the years that followed we developed the guest house itself, adding luxury suites and refining the concept that still defines us today: a true sanctuary where guests can slow down, reset, and feel genuinely looked after.

After the challenges of 2020 and 2021, we expanded further with the introduction of our Luxury Studios — a deliberate step to give guests even more space, privacy, and comfort while staying true to the intimate, personal experience that has always set Spacube apart.
From the very beginning, the heart of Spacube has been simple: exceptional personal service. Guests consistently tell us that what stays with them is the warmth of the welcome, the attention to detail, and the feeling of being cared for — not just as visitors, but as people. Rene’s hands-on presence, the calm of the suites, and the quality of our spa therapies have turned many short stays into lasting memories and, for some, into return visits that feel like coming home.
Today Spacube remains that peaceful oasis in Groenkloof — a place where the city’s energy is just a short walk away, yet the moment you arrive the pace changes. Our five-star spa continues to be the centrepiece of the experience, offering therapies that help guests release the tension of daily life and reconnect with themselves.
Looking ahead, we are expanding the vision that has guided us for nearly three decades. Under the banner of Adventure of the Senses®, we are developing carefully curated journeys that combine the refined comfort of Spacube with South Africa’s wilder landscapes. The goal is the same as it has always been: to create experiences that leave people feeling restored, inspired, and genuinely looked after.
What began as a small dream in 1997 has grown into a place that many guests now describe as Pretoria’s best-kept secret. We are still building, still refining, and still deeply committed to the simple idea that hospitality should feel personal, peaceful, and memorable.

Rene was a wonderful hostess, gracious, cheerful and accommodating in every way, even before our arrival. The place is well-decorated, with a very relaxing vibe. We had a suite with a huge bathroom and bathtub.
